LALU BACK TO JAIL

****LALU CONVICTED;BACK TO JAIL****

Lalu Yadav convicted, goes to jail: A quick guide to the fodder scam

A CBI court in Ranchi has found Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty in the fodder scam case. Another former chief minister of Bihar, Jagannath Mishra, has also been convicted in the case that has seen the first major convictions after 17 years.

1)The case was first registered in 1996. It involved the embezzlement of Rs 37 crore from the Chaibasa treasury (then part of Bihar, now in Jharkhand).

2) The CBI found that the embezzlement had been going on for a decade and pegged the amount embezzled at more than Rs 900 crore.

3) A nexus of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats had been bypassing officials of the district administration and withdrawing cash from the treasury by presenting fictitious bills for purchase of fodder.

4) A total of 61 cases were filed originally. Forty-four of those have been disposed of.

5)Lalu was an accused in six cases, of which five are being heard by the CBI court. Another 44 persons, including former CM Jagannath Mishra, were also accused in these cases. Lalu was allegedly in the know about the scam and was accused of “providing umbrella protection to the scamsters”.

6) Lalu and 44 others have been found guilty in a case referred to as RC 20(A)/96. The others convicted in this case include six politicians and four IAS officers. This is the first fodder-scam case being heard by the CBI court in which a verdict has been pronounced.

7) Expecting an unfavourable judgment, Lalu had approached the Jharkhand High Court and then the Supreme Court, claiming that the CBI special judge was a relative of Bihar education minister PK Shahi and would be prejudiced against Lalu. Both the Jharkhand HC and the apex court dismissed Lalu’s plea saying it was “a long-pending case and did not have sufficient ground to transfer”.

8)The convicts have been sent to jail and the sentence will be pronounced on 3 October. The prosecution lawyer said the minimum sentence will be four years and could go up to seven years. Lalu and Mishra, both former CMs, will cool their heels in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail in the same upper division ward where former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda spent more than three years.

9) Accusations of involvement in the scam had cost Lalu his position as Bihar chief minister. He resigned on 25 July 1997 and installed his wife Rabri Devi as the new CM on the same day. This time, Rabri Devi is reportedly slated to take over as RJD chief in Lalu’s absence while his youngest son Tejaswi Yadav will be in charge of the party’s executive affairs. Jagannath Mishra was expelled from the Congress in 1998.

10) Earlier, the then Chaibasa district magistrate Sajal Chakravarty was convicted in three cases on the same charges as Lalu Yadav. The Jharkhand High Court, however, found last year that the CBI had unable to establish the guilt of the accused, leading to the cases being quashed and Chakravarty’s acquittal. Chakravarty was restored to the Indian Administrative Services with all due pay and benefits. He is a now a principal secretary in the Jharkhand cadre.

****GANESH PUJA VIDHI****

****Ganesh Puja Vidhi****

Before commencing the ritualistic worship, rice (grain) is spread over the seat on which the idol is to be installed. Either a fistful or a mound of rice is used, depending on the local custom. On invocation of Ganapati and His ritualistic worship, energy is generated in the idol. This energy saturates the rice on which the idol is placed. If there are two strings of a musical instrument (a stringed musical instrument) of the same frequency, when sound is generated by one the same is generated by the other. Similarly, when frequencies of energy are generated in the rice below the idol, this energy is transmitted to the rice stored in the house. Thus one can eat rice saturated with energy as a sacrament of food (prasad) throughout the year.

When performing each of the following rituals a
particular mantra is recited.

1.Sipping water from the palm (achaman): This brings about internal purification.

2.The resolve (sankalpa): It may be difficult to obtain the benefit of a ritual without making a resolve.

3.Purification of the seat (asanshuddhi): This is brought about by touching one's seat and offering obeisance (namaskar).

4.Chanting the Purushsukta (Purushsukta nyas): Amidst chanting of the Purushsukta, the deity should be invoked in one's heart, head, small portion of hair on the head (shikha), face, eyes and between the eyebrows. This facilitates an increase in the sattvik (sattva
predominant) temperament.

5.Worship of the pot (kalashpuja): All deities, seas, holy rivers, etc., should be invoked in the pot. Sandalwood paste (gandha), consecrated rice (akshata) and flowers should be offered to the pot. This sattvik water is then used in the ritualistic worship.

6.Worship of the conch (shankhapuja): The conch should be washed and filled with water. Then sandalwood paste and white flowers should be offered to it. One should not offer consecrated rice and tulsi leaves to it.

7.Worship of the bell (ghantapuja): One should create sound by ringing the bell to welcome the deities and drive off the demons (asurs). The bell should be placed to one's left and sandalwood paste, consecrated rice and flowers should be offered to it.

8.Worship of the lamp (dipapuja): Sandalwood paste and flowers are offered to the lamp.

9.Purification (pavitrikaran): The water from the conch should be poured onto one's right palm and then sprinkled over oneself and on the substances to be used in the ritualistic worship.

10.Worship of the entrance (dvarpuja): Flowers and consecrated rice should be scattered in all four directions. This itself is the worship of the guardian deities of the directions (dikpal).

11.Consecration of the idol (pranpratistha): One should place the right hand over the heart of the idol of the deity and chant a mantra. Consecration of an idol is done at Ganesh chaturthi or to activate any new idol. This is not included in the usual ritualistic worship, as due to the regular worship the God principle has already been attained by it.

12.Meditation (dhyan): One should chant 'Vakratunda mahakaya suryakoti samaprabha Nirvighnam kurume deva sarva Karyeshu Sarvada

13.Invocation (avadhan): Uttering 'Om sahastrashirsha Purushaha'' one should offer consecrated rice. The resolve is the same as is made when giving an invitation for a thread ceremony, wedding, etc.

14.The seat (asan): Consecrated rice is offered to the seat.
15.The feet (padya): One should sprinkle water on the idol's feet either with flowers or durva. This symbolizes washing the deity's feet.

16.Offering water (arghya): One should take an offering of spoonful (pali) of water, mix sandalwood paste (gandha) in it and sprinkle that water onto Ganapati's body using a flower. This is akin to welcoming guests by sprinkling rose water.

17.Sipping water from the palm (achaman): Imagining that the deity is sipping water from its palm, one should offer water with the offering spoon to the deity, thrice.

18.Ablution for cleansing of the body (malapakarshsnan): One should bathe the deity using the offering spoon.

19.Bathing with the five nectars (panchamrutsnan): First bathe the idol with a mixture of milk, honey, curd, clarified butter (ghee) and sugar that is panchamrut. Then bathe it with a spoonful of water. One should offer water as if God is sipping water (achman), thrice and finally offer sandalwood paste, consecrated rice and flowers.

20.Ritualistic worship before the main worship (purvapuja): After worship with sandalwood paste, consecrated rice (akshata), flowers (red flowers for Ganapati), frankincense and a lit lamp, the remaining panchamrut should be used as an offering (naivedya).

To make this offering, a mandal (a circle) should be made by sprinkling water in front of the idol. The panchamrut should then be placed on it. (The mandal prevents energies other than those of deities from manifesting there to partake of the offering.) Beginning on the left, using a flower or a tulsi leaf one should sprinkle water around the vessel containing the panchamrut.

Then closing the eyes and directing the odour of the offering with the fingers towards the deity one should chant the mantra related to the five vital energies 'Om pranaya svaha, Om apanaya svaha, Om vyanaya svaha, Om udanaya svaha, Om samanaya svaha, Om Brahmane svaha twice. This means I offer to you O pran, apan, vyan, udan, saman and Brahman. Both the times one should conclude the mantra by sprinkling water around the vessel. Then uttering 'Neivedyamadhyepaniyam Samparyami', meaning 'I offer this at Your feet', a little water should be sprinkled on the offering. This further enhances the sattva component in the offering. Thereafter, to signify the washing of the hands and mouth, water should be poured over the hand into a circular, shelving metal dish (tamhan), thrice.

A flower dipped in sandalwood paste should be offered to Ganapati. Betel leaves should be placed in front of the deity and water should be poured over them. One should offer flowers and obeisance and then release water into the circular, shelving metal dish.

21.Consecration by sprinkling with water (abhishek): After ritualistic worship and before the main worship, consecration by sprinkling with water, according to the Atharvashirisha or Brahmanspatisukta is done. Water is sprinkled on the idol either with a blade of sacred grass (durva) or a red flower.

22.Offering cloth (vastrarpan) : Two red cloths should be offered.

23.Offering the sacred thread (yadnyopavit): The sacred thread should be offered.

24.Smearing with sandalwood paste (vilepan): With the ring (fourth) finger one should apply sandalwood paste.

25.Offering consecrated rice (akshatarpan) : Consecrated rice should be offered.

26.Offering saffron coloured powder (sindurarpan): A saffron coloured powder (sindur) should be offered.

27.Various fragrant substances (anya parimaldravya) : Turmeric, vermilion (kumkum), red coloured powder (gulal), a powder containing fragrant substances (bukka), asthagandha, etc., are offered.

28.Offering flowers (pushparpan) : Red flowers should be offered. Offering tulsi to Ganapati is prohibited because Ganapati mostly favours devotion with expectation (sakam bhakti) while tulsi denotes detachment (vairagya). Thus devotees of Ganapati would not even grow tulsi plants in their compound unlike most Hindus.

29.Ritualistic worship of the entire body (angapuja) : Either consecrated rice or flowers should be offered to every part of Ganapati's body, from the feet to the head while performing His ritualistic worship.

30.Ritualistic worship with other Names (namapuja) : While chanting each Name, the durva should be dipped in red vermilion paste and offered one by one.

31.Worship with leaves (patrapuja) : With each offering of a leaf of a different kind a specific Name should be chanted.

32. Worship with flowers (pushpapuja) : Flowers of different kinds with their stalks facing the deity, should be offered while chanting a specific Name with each type of flower.

33.Worship with frankincense (dhupadarshan) : Frankincense and incense should be moved in a circular fashion in front of the idol.

34.Worship with a lit lamp (dipadarshan) : A lit metal lamp (niranjan) should be moved in a circular fashion.

35.Offering food (naivedya) : It should be offered in the same way as described in ritualistic worship before the main worship (purvapuja).

36.Offering betel leaves along with betelnut, lime, cardamoms, etc., (tambul) : After placing betel leaves in front of the deity, water should be poured over them.

37.Offering money (dakshina) : The offering should be placed on betel leaves and water should be poured over it.

38.Offering fruit (phalasamarpan) : A coconut should be placed with its tip pointing towards the deity and water should be poured onto it. If a coconut is not available then seasonal fruits should be used. [The energy from the deity enters the pointed tip of the coconut, which is later consumed by devotees as a sacrament (prasad). Thus, they receive that energy.]

39.Prayer (prarthana): Chanting the mantra 'Avahanam na janami.... one should pour water over the palm and release it into the circular, shelving metal dish (tamhan).

40.Partaking of holy water (tirthaprashan) : Chanting the mantra 'Akalmrutyuharanam….one should partake of the holy water.

41.Moving lit lamps (arti): Amidst singing, lit lamps should be moved in a circular fashion.

42.Prayer (prarthana): 'Surrendering at your feet ....' should be recited.

43.Offering flowers in the form of a mantra (mantrapushpanjali): This offering is made in the form of a mantra 'Om yadnyena yadnyamayajantam'.

44.Obeisance offered by the devotees (darshanarthincha namaskar): Those present for arti and mantrapushpanjali as well as those who come to pay obeisance throughout the day, should offer flowers and a sacred grass (durva) to Ganapati and prostrate before Him. The members of the family where the idol is being worshipped should offer them a sacrament of food.

Intermediate ritualistic worship (madhyapujavidhi)

As long as the idol of Ganapati is in the house, it should be ritualistically worshipped as usual, in the morning and evening. The worship should be concluded with singing of artis and offering flowers reciting a mantra.

The concluding ritualistic worship (uttarpuja)

A. The ritual: This ritualistic worship is to be performed before the immersion of Ganapati. The worship should be performed amidst the chanting of specific mantras as follows:
1. Sipping water from the palm (achaman)
2. Making the resolve (sankalpa)
3. Offering sandalwood (chandanarpan)
4. Offering consecrated rice (akshatarpan)
5. Offering flowers (pushparpan)
6. Offering turmeric and vermilion (haridrakumkumarpan)
7. Offering sacred grass (durva - durvrpan)
8. Lighting the lamp and frankincense (dhupa-dipadarshan)
9. Offering food (naivedya). (Variation: Turmeric and vermilion are offered along with the sandalwood.) Performing the aarti thereafter, flowers should be offered along with the recitation of a mantra (mantrapushpanjali). Everyone should offer consecrated rice onto Ganapati's hand and move the idol with the right hand.

B. Significance: The aim of this ritualistic worship is to endow the one performing it, with Ganesh frequencies. In ritualistic worship of Ganesh, the concluding ritualistic worship (uttarpuja) is the final step in augmenting the frequencies. During the concluding ritualistic worship all the pure particles (pavitrakas) present in the idol are expelled suddenly. This ritualistic worship is concluded by shifting the idol from its place. Consequently all the pure particles abandon the idol and the one performing the worship can acquire them.
'In a temple of Lord Ganesh the concluding ritualistic worship is performed after the vowed ritualistic worship (mahapuja) by one devotee is completed. Then the vowed ritualistic worship by the next devotee is performed. This concluding ritualistic worship has special significance here. Ganapati should be bidden farewell (immersed) with honor "with an invitation to return". Thus the concluding ritualistic worship is important.'

Immersion (visarjan)

After the concluding ritualistic worship, the idol is immersed in flowing water. When taking Ganapati for immersion one should also give curd, puffed rice, coconut, modak, etc., as provision for the journey. Beside the banks of the flowing water where the idol is to be immersed, one should perform aarti once again and then release the idol along with the provisions into the water. After immersion it is customary to bring home the earth from that place and to sprinkle it all over the house.

An important point regarding immersion of Ganesh is that the divinity induced in the mud idol by consecration cannot remain in it beyond one day. This means that no matter when the Ganesh idol is immersed, on the second day divinity from it is already lost. Hence after performing the ritualistic worship of the idol of any deity immersing it that very day is most appropriate in all aspects. Even if one observing seclusion due to birth (soyar) or death (sutak) in the family a priest should be made to perform the vowed religious observance of Ganesh (Ganeshvrat). Similarly immersion on the decided day without waiting for an event such as a delivery, etc., in the family is correct according to the scriptures.

****GET BACK TO TRUE INDIAN PARENTALSHIP****

****GET BACK TO TRUE INDIAN PARENTALSHIP****

One more gang rape...............?............... Yet now we did not forget day before yesterday’s Nirbhaya's incident in Delhi...yesterday a gang of youth kidnapped 4 gals from Jharkhand and mercilessly raped them in near by forest. And today it was on Photo journalist???!!!!

In this case, opposition parties, some sector of citizens of India mightmake home minister of respectable state as responsible and force himto resign?? But ask any one of them, keeping their hand on heart...byhis resignation, rapes will not occur in future???

People today are politicizing every matter without using common sense...I really feel pity for the victim..and I din’t sleep peacefully yesterday night.thoughts were like fire...finally as an admin of this page i am sharing my views.hope the echoes of my words would spread like fire by us#IndianSageWarriors for sure..

Here we may discuss the root causes for rapes :

1)Complete failure of parental ship >>Youth aged in between 16-22 are joining armed forces and standing like walls on border to protect the mother India. The Same aged youth bringing laurels to the country winning nationals & international matches. The Same aged youth are getting passed out from universities in thousands and thousand numbers to spread knowledge and to teach technologies.!!!!!!How many of remaining (n some of above too) having character??? An attitude to respect women??And here the question is why some are getting jailed by doing such heinous crimes???The answer is simple........

'LACK OF GOOD PARENTALSHIP''LACK OF PRELIMINARY EDUCATION BASED ON ETHICS AND MORAL VALUES'

How many parents in us taught our children to respect women??Behave with a respectable attitude??How many parents are checking their kids for what reasons that they are spending money given to them???how many parents are guarding their kids not to become prey to bad habits and bad company???If not till now?? Its time to......wake up Indians...!!!!!!

2) I won't,as I do usually ,claim and show my finger on lord Macule .They had gone centuries before.and till now what our buggers and so called national leaders were doing?????

3)I feel ours is a #### secularism? As Swami Vivekananda said for every country their is a soul. Some got communalism? Some got socialism? Some got capitalism? Some got dictatorship?? But our India since the ages..and since yugas had the soul of spiritualism .And leaving it apart, following some western countries ‘s philosophies had threw us as in the story ofblue jackal the rain removes its colour.

Now the same thing is happening here.We could not be fully BHARTHEYA..nor have the western minds.

4)Hope the government wakes up and reform the complete educational system to bring a great changes from preliminary stages. As we all know that a plant which was not bent in its seedling stage cant be bent ever in its future. Some moral values, ethics are to be injected with religious studies in blood in the early stages of life.In the past it was done by GURUKULAS. But now?? As those which we call schools were turned to be business centres promoting and providing facilities than education, the same thing can not be compensated. These are to be implemented by government and parents at home simultaneously & sincerely!!!

5). And you parents....don't expect and also don't complain why your kid who is watching useless entertainment programmes, all foreign best or waste and who don't show respect towards elders. Its your fault!!!!.Have you taught them???Have you spent time to teach the beautiful moral stories from Vishnu Sharma's Panchatantra or influential stories from The Ramayana and The Mahabharata????Without these how can your kids can know differencebetween being Duryodhana and Dharmaraja and also people like them???

Valour doesn't matter!!! But attitude glorifying valour, matters!!!!

How many of these were taught to our kids???

6). Just chitchatting with fellow colleagues may prove heavier price for future generations unless and until you recognise your part of being a teacher of 40 kids in front of u,because you are the guide of those 40 kids’s future, their dreams,......u can make each,a Shivaji,a Rana Pratap,a Bhagath Singh!!!

Teach them ethics, morals & how to respect women as a human being first and then how to see motherhood in ‘HER’!!!Do Ur part well....

7).My dear women in India,!!!! Why you people are sleeping???We salute you for your bravery since the times of Sathyabhama to that of Lakshmi Bai.Why do you feel helpless??? Make your feminine communities not only for seeking equal rights against your husbands and families. But to fight with demons as such who are attacking u.Make your group from villages to national level.Teach self defence to each n every girl kid!!!! Bethe best of yourselves....

8)Hope one day I hear That some one raped the rapist with just one kick!!!!

In the past especially In Vedic Dharma accords total equality between men and women in their respective fields. Religions and faith show ever, have neglected women who constitute half of the number of human race. Some of them have looked upon women worse than animals. One faith has called her as the footwear to be worn, and some other have called as fields to be ploughed. A few of them have described women as a gateway to hell and further called her as soul less. Further, unable to describe her further despised her by characterizing as ABALA which means helpless.

However, Vedic Dharma proudly declares
Yajurveda 8.43

“Ede, ranthe kaamye chandre jyothyedathe Saraswathi mahee vishruththih|
Ethathe Agne namaani devebhyomaah sukrutham bruyaath||”

Meaning:- Possessing all praiseworthy qualities, giver of happiness, lighter of home, a scholar who is away from being helpless, weak and pathetic, having noble thoughts and lofty behaviour and well known, never to be beaten and rejected, are the qualities with which you Devi are named. Having possessed of these qualities, O Devi! Advice me too the noble thoughts and deed.

These are the lofty thoughts brought out by Vedas on woman.

Manu, in his immortal “Manusmrithi” says clearly

“Yathra Naryasthu Poojyanthe ramanthe tatra devataah”

which means that where women are respected and worshiped there dwells the divine forces. And where woman is disgraced there cannot be peace, and prosperity. Nobody could dispute the worship and the importance given in the form of Mathru shakthi. Recognizing the importance of a woman some anonymous follower of Vedic Dharma has written in Hindi as under.

“Naari Ninda Math Karo Naree Ki Khan |
Naari Senar Upaje Dhriv Prahlad Samaan | |”

MEANING: Never condemn women. She is the veritable treasure of Man. From herself the Men like Dhriv ,Prahalad were born.Eye for an eye may make entire world blind.but if a life for a life may make this world peaceful , then our Indian judiciary must follow this rule....

****TRUTHS ABOUT NETAJI’S DEATH THAT NO ONE ACTUALLY KNOWS****

****TRUTHS ABOUT NETAJI’S DEATH THAT NO ONE ACTUALLY KNOWS****

The intriguing death of an Indian holy man in 1985 suggested that he was none other than Subhas Chandra Bose, the revolutionary and nationalist who, it is officially claimed, died in an air crash in 1945. The truth, however, is harder to find, as Hugh Purcell discovers.

On September 16th, 1985, in a dilapidated house in Faizabad, formerly the capital of Oudh province in India, a reclusive holy man known as Bhagwanji or Gumnami Baba (‘the saint with no name’) breathed his last. Locals had long suspected that he was none other than Subhas Chandra Bose (1897-1945), the Indian quasi-Fascist leader who in the 1930s had advocated a violent revolution against the British Empire to gain total independence for India. The Second World War had enabled him to practise what he preached and his Indian National Army had fought with the Japanese in Burma attempting to drive the British out of the subcontinent.
Although Netaji (Great Leader) Bose was reported killed in an air crash in August 1945, while trying to escape to the Soviet Union, many believed then and continue to believe now that, helped by his Japanese allies, he faked his death, reached Russia and returned to India many years later to lead the secret life of a hermit. Surprisingly for a poor sadhu(mystic) the ‘saint with no name’ left behind many trunks of possessions and in 1986, Bose’s niece Lalita obtained a high court order for an inventory to be made of their contents. Among the 2,673 items indexed, Lalita claimed she saw letters in her uncle’s handwriting and family photographs. Gumnami Baba’s belongings were re-packed in 23 boxes and sent to the District Treasury.

On November 26th, 2001, Justice Mukherjee, appointed by Indian Government, drove up to the District Treasury to open the boxes from which out came a pair of German binoculars, a Corona typewriter, a pipe (taken away for DNA but without result), a Rolex watch – ‘Netaji’s watch,’ gasped a spectator in awe – a box of five teeth (also taken away but found not to belong to Bose) and a pair of silver, round-rimmed spectacles. Clearly, Gumnami Baba had been an extraordinary man. It was his collection of books that was most thought-provoking.Bear in mind that Bose had received an English education and, in the eyes of the British, had committed war crimes against them possibly escaping to the Soviet Union!!!
In his inquiry report, completed in 2006, Justice Mukherjee was categoric. He concluded: ‘Netaji Bose is dead [a safe bet as he would have been 109]. He did not die in the plane crash as alleged and the ashes in the Japanese temple in Tokyo [maintained by the Indian government since 1945] are not of Netaji.’

Considering all the rumors that had spread in the case of Bose’s death as secondary issues ,Bose saw his struggle as a moral crusade. The British Empire was evil and he was fighting for the good, in epic terms that Indians love –‘Give me your blood and I will give you freedom,’ was his cry. In a country where the lines between mortality, sainthood and the divine are finely drawn, why not bring back the epic hero, Netaji, as a symbolic figure to achieve a Divine Age on earth?

****AMRUTHA VARSHINI-THE RAAGA OF RAIN!!!****

****AMRUTHA VARSHINI-THE RAAGA OF RAIN!!!****
In Carnatic music Amruthavarshini is the raAga that is supposed to get the rain. The raga Malhar is a powerful legendary in Hindustani classical music which is equivalent to Amruthavarshini. Even in Puranas, its written that in Thretayug, when Ravana set fire to Hanuman's tail, he set fire to entire Lanka. Then Ravana played the Amruthavarshini raga on his Veena and brought forth rain.
According to the legends, raga Malhar is so powerful that, when sung, it rains. The raga has lost its "swaroop" among the ages because there was no one who could remember its complicated rhythms and beats. Many great artists of Medieval period and much earlier period used to sing this raga.
There are lots of miracles that have taken place and are still taking place by singing and chanting krithis of Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar. He attained mastery over the Veena, and the influence of Veena playing is evident in his compositions.
Sri Muthuswamy Dikshitar got the wonderful flow of music by the grace of Lord "Kumaraswamy" who put "Kalakanda" in his mouth. Soon he began to sing in praise of the Lord in a unique style by singing a kriti "Anandamritha Varshini" in raga Amruthavarshini", he caused the thunderous clouds to gather over the sky and rain profusely when there were no rains in that region for one year and the people yearned for water.
Once he was passing through the village Ettayapuram in thirunelveli District, there was an acute drought. Since he was well known for his powers, people in the village requested him to get rains in. At their request he sang the same kriti in Amruthavarshini raga. When he sang the line "varshaya varshaya varshaya" it started raining heavily flooding the village and he had to sing the same song with the slight modification. Instead of "varshaya varshaya varshaya", he used "sthambaya sthambaya" to stop the rains.
There are many written accounts of the raga. Meera Bai, the devotee of Lord Krishna is among noble singers those who were capable of having down the rains by various kinds of raga Malhar. She has composed between 200 to 1300 prayerful songs (bhajans), and most passionately praised Lord Krishna.
It is also true that certain ragas cause certain reactions, such as Deepak raga. Infact someone went to the extent of saying that singing this raga could cause a burning sensation and that is why there are no songs that are taught in this raga.
However, raga Amruthavarshini or raga Malhar better not sing in the monsoon season as the rain is already causing damages across the world.

****ELECTRICITY MENTIONED IN ATHARVANA VEDA****

****ELECTRICITY MENTIONED IN ATHARVANA VEDA****

FOR CENTURIES, THE HISTORY OF INDIA AND IN PARTICULAR HINDU CULTURE HAS BEEN PRESENTED IN THE MOST DISTORTED AND FALSIFIED FASHION. MOST RECENTLY, WESTERN HISTORIANS AND INDIAN HISTORIANS INFLUENCED BY THE WEST, HAVE CONSTANTLY PORTRAYED IT IN AN ABSOLUTELY ERRONEOUS MANNER. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT EXAMPLE OF THIS TYPE IS THE ABERRANT ANALYSIS HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE GREATEST AND MOST PROFOUND HINDU LITERATURE OF ALL TIME, NAMELY THE VEDAS.

For Hindus, the Vedas are of completely divine origin. We believe that the Vedas are words of divine wisdom from the eternal source of Supreme Consciousness itself. Over many centuries, men of supremely exalted wisdom called “Rishis” compiled these eternal spiritual and natural laws into several volumes, which are called “Vedas”. However, according to self styled analysts like Max Mueller and thousands of Western as well as pseudo secular Indian historians, the Vedas are nothing but a bunch of ritualistic hymns connected with nothing more spiritual than charms and incantations. These people would have us believe that the profound heights of spiritual philosophy that are expressed in the Vedas, are nothing short of tribal superstitions upheld by a primitive people.

Of all the Vedas, none has been more maligned than the Atharva Veda. Many historians have even gone on to say that it is nothing but “a manual of black and white magic”. Such exceptionally ignorant statements make it clear that sacred Hindu literature is being treated in the most demeaning and prejudiced way. Take for example such statements as “Above all the principal aim of the Atharva Veda is to appease the demons, to bless friends and to curse” by V.M. Apte, an Indian writer of modern times, or ” There are then numerous verses in the Atharveda, which according to their character and often also in their contents, differ just as little from the magic formulas of American Indian medicine-men and Tarter Shamans..” by Winternitz. These type of views clearly demonstrate the prejudices and biased approach that Western-educated historians bring to their analysis. Not only that, but it also shows that their views are conditioned by Western outlooks and ideals, bundled with the misgivings that the Christian viewpoint displays in dealing with anything mystical and alien to their own perception of “spiritual strictures of morality”
While reading the Vedas, one must keep certain facts in mind:

The Vedas are NOT historical accounts. They are not biographies of great kings and the battles they fought with demons, nor are they mythical legends about emperors and intrigues that existed long ago.
The Vedas date MUCH further back than any Indus Valley Civilization. Long before the Harappans existed, these spiritual, scientific and natural laws had been collected by numerous brilliant Rishis and compiled into several unified compositions, all of which were given the general descriptive label of “Vedas”.
The Vedas ARE compilations of the eternal laws governing human existence. Moreover each of the four Vedas was a treatise on particular subjects, specific only to itself. The word “Veda” itself means “sacred or pure knowledge” , having come from the root “Vid” meaning “to know”.

Of these, the Atharvaveda consisted of nine branches or sakhas, according to sage Patanjali. These were:

1) Paippalada
2) Tauda
3) Munda
4) Saunakiya
5) Jajala
6) Jalada
7) Brahmaveda
 Devadarsa
9) Charanavaidya

Of these nine, we know of only two, namely Saunaka and Paippalada branches. Even in this incomplete form, the Atharvaveda was the source of development for such immense philosophical systems as Tantra and practical systems like Ayurveda. Often, Hindu scriptures have been criticised, as being too vague and full of profoundly difficult philosophical flights and abstract concepts, that are impossible for the common reader to grasp. In fact, the Atharvaveda is a prime example of how the majority of Hindu scriptures DO delve into practical and material matters that affect everyday human life. The Vedas are a wealth of information, not only about philosophical and spiritual ideals, but also invaluable reference manuals that clearly explain the laws governing scientific phenomenon, practical applications, and the methods for utilization of awesome natural resources. Scientists, mathematicians, manufacturers, computer programmers and many others can greatly benefit from this vast repertoire of information and knowledge.

Although most people today concentrate on significant aspects of the Atharvaveda such as medicinal plants and healing practices, many other fascinating subjects such as marriage rites, the healing properties of water, atomic and solar energy, electricity, and the states of the Supreme Consciousness are also discussed. (I will expound more on these subjects in future articles)

One of the most exciting topics covered in the Atharvaveda is electricity and specifically, the detailed description of valuable applications that harness and utilize this immense source of energy. Some of the applications described, include important specifications for a control system that harnesses the intense power of electricity for use as a deadly weapon, utilization of hydroelectric power for manufacturing and the fission properties of electricity. These are only some of these amazing instances that clearly demonstrate how the most advanced scientific laws and phenomenons are described in the Atharvaveda.

It will be fully apparent from the following verses that Electrical Energy and its properties were fully understood by Vedic sages. It was definitely used in everyday technological applications as much (if not more), as it is for us today. It is also clear that Vedic scientists knew far more about the properties of electricity than us. It was not till very recently, that modern day scientists discovered and began research on the potential usage of electrical energy in military science and related areas.

What these verses clearly demonstrate to us is the fact that Vedic Society was at an extremely advanced state of technological advancement and fully utilized Electricity in innumerable productive applications
I have followed a standard format to make identification of the verses easy. All of the verses have been taken from Kanda (Book) XX of the Atharvaveda translated by Devi Chand. The Sanskrit verses are highlighted in maroon where as their translations are highlighted in Blue. Each verse can be referenced directly in the order of Chapter (Anuvaka), Hymn (Sukta) and Verse number.

NON-MILITARY APPLICATIONS OF ELECTRICITY:

According to the descriptions found in Atharvaveda, electrical energy can be utilized in many useful applications such as creation of powerful engines, illumination, agricultural machinery, hydroelectric power plants, manufacturing plants, biomedical engineering, extraction of medicines, etc. and thus serve to greatly enhance the daily life of people.

Chapter 1: Hymn VII

Verse 2: " Nav Yo Navati Puro bibhed bahvotjasaaAhi Cha
vritrahaavadheet "
Electricity , which breaks, by the energy of its arms the 99 cities, destroys the cloud, which covers the rays of the sun, the source of all energy and power.

This initial description describes the inherent properties of of electrical energy. Here the “arms of electricity” refers to positive and negative currents. The 99 cities refers to the 99 elements, as known to modern day scientists. In Vedic terminology, these essential elements were known as “Bhogas”.

Verse 3: " Sa na Indrah Shivah sakhashwavad gomadvavama
Urudhaarev dohate "
That very electric power may be our peaceful friend, providing us with the horse-power to drive our machines, light to light up our houses, and power to produce grains in the fields. Let it bring on prosperity and well-being for us by flowing into numerous currents.

These verses clearly refer to the various useful applications of electricity. The mention of horse powered driving machines is a direct reference to electronically powered vehicles like automobiles, aircraft, etc. In our times, even prototypes of electric cars are a very recent development. In the present era, Electric car prototypes were created due to the dawning realization that gasoline fuel is a perishable resource as well as polluting to the environment. It looks like thousands of years ago, our Rishis were already aware of these dangers and used electric engines in their vehicles, as one of their primary modes of transport as well as for motors, etc. for other types of machinery. This verse also clearly mentions that electricity was used to light up buildings, just as we do today. In addition there is a reference to electrically powered agricultural machines, which helped in the manufacture and processing of crops from the fields.

Verse 4: " Indra Kratuvidang sutang somang harya purushtutPiba
vrishaswa taatripim "
Let electricity, so highly spoken of by many learned people, help extract the essence of medicines, thus produced by those, who are well-versed in manufacturing things. Let it keep safe and shower, on us the rain, satisfying all.

In modern times, we have discovered that certain electronic devices such as centrifuges, deep refrigeration, etc. are extremely helpful in deriving medicinal extracts. Apparently our ancient scientists were well aware of these methods and perhaps even more advanced than us in their knowledge. The last sentence refers reverentially to the role of electricity, which in the form of lightning is instrumental in creating life giving rain for the entire planet. The picture that emerges from these verses is that of an extremely advanced culture, that utilized superlative technology and yet maintained an enormous respect and reverence for the ecosystem and the natural environment. The proponents of Vedic culture saw spirituality everywhere, and held sacred the power of all divine forces, from water, to electricity. Not only this, but they had analysed the properties and laws of all these natural energies and thus comprehended perfectly the best way to utilize them.

Chapter 3 :Hymn XXXI

Verse 1: " Taa Vajrinam Mandinam Stomyam mad indram rathe
vahato haryataa hareePurunyasmay savanaani haryata
indraaya somaa harayo dadhanwire "
Those two speedily moving forces of attraction and repulsion propel the electric current, powerful like the thunderbolt, pleasant and praiseworthy, in this pleasant plane or car. Manifold are the generating powers for the refulgent electricity borne by speedy moving Somas – various kinds of liquid fuels.

Verse 2: "Arang Kaamaay Haryo dadhanwire sthiraay
hinvanharayo Haree turaArvadbhiyor
Haribhijorshameeyate so asya kaamam
harivantamaanashe "
The above mentioned speedy forces of two kinds set in motion strong currents, capable of maintaining steady progress in the attainment of one’s objective in plenty. Whatever complex is attained by these fast moving horsepowers, is enough to achieve the beautiful objective of his, the manufacturer.

Here the principles of electromagnetic force discussed are being used to generate motion. In addition, the reference to a liquid fuel propellant, informs us that a combination of high-speed and intense electrical power was used to produce a number of favourable results like exceptionally fast vehicular modes of transportation, as well as efficient manufacturing processes. For example, extremely fast centrifugal force is used to separate genetic materials in Biomedical labs today. The combination of speed and power is certainly desirable to increase the efficiency of manufacturing plants.

Chapter 2: Hymn XV

Verse 2: "Adha te vishwamanu haasadishtaya aapo nimneva
savanaa havishmatahYatparvate na samasheeta haryata
indrasya vajrah shnathita hiranyayah "
Just as all productive works of the manufacturer depend upon waters flowing down with speed, so do all the desired objects of him depend upon you (Electricity), as its powerful striking force cannot be obstructed by any cloud, or mountain in the way. It smashes all impediments, with its radiant energy.

This verse acknowledges the immense power of electricity and proves the Vedic community’s understanding of its intensity. Electricity does have the power of striking through any element. The portion about productive works depending on waters flowing with speed is an obvious reference to harnessing hydroelectric power. It is obvious from this verse that Vedic society was well aware of methods that harnessed the power of electricity through systems like hydroelectric power plants. Once harnessed, they incorporated the force to implement manufacturing concerns and power machinery.

Verse 3: " Asmay Bheemaaya namasaa samadhwara usho na
shubhra aa bharaa paneeyaseYasya dhaam shravase
naamendriyam jyotirkaari harito naayase "
O well-versed engineer make use of this terrible electric power fit to be utilized for useful purposes by controlling it, for non-violent, brilliant light like the dawn. It has the potentiality to help hearing, control energy and spread light in all quarters.

This confirms the fact that electricity was a topic that was researched and explored in great detail. Skilled electrical engineers used to devise specific utilities and controls for electric power. Illumination was certainly one of its widely used applications. From the last line, we can also glean the information that electronic devices were used as hearing aids and sound magnifiers. Sophisticated systems for controlling electricity and measuring electricity were in place, and electronic panels that aided in controlling other forms of energy were also used.

MILITARY USAGE OF ELECTRICITY:

Now let’s turn to the truly amazing descriptions of electricity being utilized as a weapon in military combat. Up until very recently, modern day scientists were not even aware of this potentially devastating aspect of electricity being utilized as a weapon. It is only in the past decade or so, that scientific research has begun concentrating on the potential use of Electricity as a deadly weapon. Electrical bombs can be utilised to destroy all sorts of vital equipment and inflict massive damage. Topics like the EMP effect and the consequent possibilities of using electrical weapons, were rudimentary information to Vedic people, wheras we have barely begun our explorations on this topic.

The ElectroMagnetic Pulse (EMP) effect was first observed during the early testing of high altitude airburst nuclear weapons. The effect is characterised by the production of a very short (hundreds of nanoseconds) but intense electromagnetic pulse, which propagates away from its source with ever diminishing intensity, governed by the theory of electromagnetism. The ElectroMagnetic Pulse is in effect an electromagnetic shock wave.

This pulse of energy produces a powerful electromagnetic field, particularly within the vicinity of the weapon burst. The field can be sufficiently strong to produce short lived transient voltages of thousands of Volts (ie kiloVolts) on exposed electrical conductors, such as wires, or conductive tracks on printed circuit boards, where exposed.

It is this aspect of the EMP effect which is of tremendous military significance, as it can result in irreversible damage to a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment, particularly computers and radio or radar receivers. Subject to the electromagnetic hardness of the electronics, a measure of the equipment’s resilience to this effect, and the intensity of the field produced by the weapon, the equipment can be irreversibly damaged or in effect destroyed. The damage inflicted would be the same as that of striking the equipment with huge bolts of lightning.

Computers used in data processing systems, communications systems, displays, industrial control applications, including road and rail signalling, and those embedded in military equipment, such as signal processors, electronic flight controls and digital engine control systems, are especially vulnerable to the EMP effect.

What amazes one is the fact that Vedic Rishis clearly KNEW about the EMP effect and have composed vivid descriptions of the usage of electric weapons as the verses below will demonstrate:

Chapter 2: Hymn XV

Verse6: "Twam tamindra parvatam mahaamurum vajrena
vajrinparvshashchakartithaAvaasrijo nivritaah satarvaa
apah satraa vishwam dadhishe kevalam sahah "
Just as the thundering electricity reduces the vast cloud to nothing by its thunderbolt, so do you, O King, equipped with piercing weapons like the thunderbolt, smash into pieces the vast armies of the enemy, consisting of various units, by your striking power like the thunderbolt. Just as the waters of the cloud released by the electricity, fall down and flow over the earth, similarly the well-equipped armies of the enemy; being subdued by the might of the king are duly regulated by him. Truly do you alone, O King, hold all the power to subdue the foes.

The inference is quite obviously to weapons utilizing electricity. “Piercing weapons like the thunderbolt” is a clear pointer to surges of exceedingly high voltage. The lethal electric weapons are used to counter various units of the army. This is another clue, for as discussed above, the EMP effect can be used to advantage for a number of targets ranging from computers, to communication systems. Apparently electricity was employed as one of the primary weapons in military combat during the Vedic era.

Chapter 4: Hymn XXXVIII

Verse 5: " Indra Idhyorah sacha sangmishal aa vachoyujaIndro
vajri Hiranyah "
Electricity is well mixed up with Prana and Apana, the 2 horsepowers, yoked to power of speech. Electric power has the striking power of a deadly weapon and is full of brilliance.

Here we find it stated starkly that electricity has the striking power of a deadly weapon. There can be no greater proof of the deployment of electrical weaponry during the Vedic era. An interesting suggestion is also made in the first line of this verse, that electrical energy is also present in the form of Prana and Apana, within the human body. “Prana” means “breath ” according to Tantra Yoga, wheras “Apana” is the Prana that exists in the area below the navel. According to Tantric thought Prana is charged with negative ions while Apana is charged with positive ions. When Prana is forced to enter through the central canal (Sushuma or Brahma Nadi) in the spinal column, the result is fusion of the negative and positive ions. This fusion generates an immense amount of energy, which awakens the dormant energy called Kundalini that lies at the base of the spine. Once Kundalini or the vital life force is awakened, it destroys the ignorance of the mind and results in enlightenment.

We know now of course, that the cerebrospinal system is a great generator of electrical energy and has a fantastic network of nerves that serve as connectors. The cerebrum as it is called keeps on providing electrical energy. Through fine nerves, this energy is constantly supplied to the organism, providing life force. Thus we can see how these and other type of systems described in the Atharvaveda have a purely scientific basis.

Chapter 3: Hymn XXX

Verse 1: " Pra te mahe vidathe shansisham hari pra te vanve
vanusho haryatam madamDhritam na yo haribhishcharu
sechat aa tva vishantu harivparsang girah "
O electricity, I fully praise thy two forces of protection and destruction in this great universe, which is a great sacrificial place or battlefield of life. I highly cherish your beautiful exhilaration, destroying the evil forces of the enemy. You shower various forms of fortunes through your blessing powers of speedy action, like waters from the clouds. Let all praises find their abode in you of charming splendor.

Here again, we find the mention of the dual nature of electrical energy. It can be destructive as in the EMP effect, and it can be protective as in the cerebrospinal system.

Verse 3: " So asya vajro harito ya aayso harinirkaamo harira
gabhastyohDhumni sushipro harimanyusayaka indre ni
roopa harita mimikshire "
Here is the blue-green colored thunderbolt of iron of the king. There is also the beautiful horse of iron of high speed. Here is also the horsepower of the rays of electricity. There is also the shining arrow, capable of destroying the pride of the enemy and having a very high speed. In short many kinds of weapons have been made through electric power for the king.

These verses appear to be describing different sorts of electrical weapons. The “beautiful horse of iron of high speed” apparently refers to some type of metallic car/aircraft which can reach extremely high speeds. The horsepower for the engine for a craft or automobile of this sort was provided by electricity. The “shining arrow” can mean an exceptionally powerful ballistic missile loaded with an electric warhead. The missile was superfast and probably covered vast distances, it was apparently one of the main weapons that could be used to target the central command and control center of the enemy. Here we find a reference telling us that many advanced weapons utilizing electricity had been deployed in this era.

Verse 4: " Divi na keturadhi dhaayi haryato vivayachadvajro harito
na ranghayaTudadahi harishipro ya aayasah
sahastrashokaa abhavadharibharah "
Like a radiant spot, it is well placed in the heavens, then with a high speed, the terribly destructive missile, made of iron, possessing speed of electric power, crushing the serpent natured enemy, becomes lit up with thousands of lights and loaded with destructive ray of various kinds.

This makes the previous verse even more apparent. The missile being described seems to generate immense power and would be exceptionally destructive. It is possible that the electric weapons used by Vedic society may have been equivalent in destructive power to nuclear weapons, or perhaps even more lethal. They may also have been used for preliminary strikes before the actual use of nuclear weapons. A conventional electronic combat campaign, or intensive electronic combat operations, would initially concentrate on saturating the opponent’s electronic defences, denying information and inflicting maximum attrition upon electronic assets. The massed application of electromagnetic bombs in the opening phase of an electronic battle would allow much faster attainment of command as it would destroy electronic assets at a much faster rate than possible with conventional means. After this phase, it would be child’s play to completely destroy the enemy.

Chapter 3: Hymn:XXI

Verse 7: " Yudha yudhmup ghedeshi dhrishnuya pura puram
samidam hansyojasaNamya yadindra sakhya paraavati
nibrahyo namuchi naam maayinam "
O mighty King, you can easily get at the striking power of the enemy by your overwhelming striking force. Being well-entrenched in your sheltered place of defense, you can thoroughly break the defenses of the enemy to smithereens. Completely crush the deceitful enemy, unfit to be left alive, through your faithful ally, although stationed at a distance.

This particular reference is apparently to a remotely controlled electronic weapon system. This verse directly points to unleashing a tremendously high voltage surge that can blast into the defensive electrical equipment belonging to the enemy. The last sentence describes remote initiation of the bombing sequence, while the controller is stationed at a safe distance.

Verse 8: " Tvam karnyajmut parnayam vadhistejisthayaatithigvasya
vartaniTvam shata vaddagridasyaabhintpuronaanudah
parishuta rijishvana "
O mighty electricity, you kill the violent enemy, equipped with speedy means of communication like cars or airships, a hindrance in the way of people who are worthy of respect, cows or land by your consuming and splendorous power. You shatter the 100 forts of the adversary who obstructs your communications or breaks your regulations and does not pay tribute to you established by straightforward negotiations.

In the case of electricity, 100 forts refers to 100 elements. It breaks all these through the power of fission, overcoming all resistances and obstructions in the way. Any trained electrical engineer must have complete knowledge of the complex laws and limitations governing electrical energy. There is an evident respect for electricity demonstrated here, for it is an awesome power indeed. Transport infrastructure can also be destroyed with the use of electromagnetic bombs. Railway and road signalling systems, where automated, are most vulnerable to electromagnetic attack on their control centres. Significantly, most modern automobiles and trucks use electronic ignition systems which are known to be vulnerable to electromagnetic weapons effects.

Modern land warfare doctrine emphasises mobility, and manoeuvre warfare methods are typical for contemporary land warfare. Coordination and control are essential to the successful conduct of manoeuvre operations, and this provides another opportunity to apply electromagnetic weapons. Communications and command sites are key elements in the structure of such a land army, and these have concentrated communications and computer equipment. Therefore if the enemy is attacked with electromagnetic weapons, the entire command and control of land operations would be completely disrupted. Employing tactics like launching an initial attack with electromagnetic weapons would create a maximum of confusion, and if followed by an all out attack with conventional weapons would completely obliterate the enemy.

Verse 9: " Tvametam janrajyo dwidarshaabandhuna
sushrvasopajagmushahPashisht sahastra navati nava
shruto ni chakrena rathya dushpadavrinak "
O electricity, you can by your circular motion like the wheel of a chariot, which is too powerful to be checked, well keep under control all these 20 basic elements, 6099 organic and inorganic bodies, by a single transmitter of high quality, with no other force to help it.

In technological terms, coupling is the means to create an electric connection of two electric circuits by having a part common to both. One of the mechanisms, which can be exploited to improve coupling is the polarization of an electric weapon’s emission. Polarization simply means orienting the emission in a particular direction. If we assume that the orientations of possible coupling apertures and resonances in the target set are random in relation to the weapon’s antenna orientation, a linearly polarized emission would only exploit half of the opportunities available. A circularly polarized emission would exploit all coupling opportunities. A single transmitter of superior quality can control the entire emission.

Verse 10: "Tvamaavitha sushravasam tavotibhistava
traambhirindra tuvrayaanamTvamasmay
kutsamatithigvamaayum mahe raagye yoone
arndhanaayah "
O electricity, you keep in safety this good listening set, by your means of safety and protect the commander, with speedy mobile forces by your strong means of defense. You control the sharp weapons, equipped with the striking power of limitless time and speed for this great, youthful king.

Other electronic devices and electrical equipment would also be destroyed by the EMP effect. Telecommunications equipment can be highly vulnerable, due to the presence of lengthy copper cables between devices. Receivers of all varieties are particularly sensitive to EMP, as highly sensitive miniature high frequency transistors and diodes in such equipment are easily destroyed by exposure to high voltage electrical transients. Therefore radar and electronic warfare equipment, satellite, microwave, UHF, VHF, HF and low band communications equipment and television equipment would all be destroyed by the EMP effect. This verse apparently refers to a defense mechanism created with the aid of electricity, which protects both the commander as well his entire system of wireless communications. It may be referring to some sort of shield which makes things unsusceptible to the emission. The advanced and deadly missiles of unlimited speed are controlled by electronic control panels.

Chapter 4: Hymn XXXVII

Verse 4: " Tvam nibhinirmano devavitao bhooreeni vritraa
haryashava hansiTvam ni dasyum chumuri dhuni
chasvaapyo dabhitaye suhantu "
O electrical currents of high voltage, safely carried by electric wires, you kill many enemies in the war, waged by learned persons or through the help of natural forces. To keep all the evil forces under control, you, being well-equipped with good means of destruction completely lay down to lasting sleep (death) the evil forces that rob and harass the general public.
This verse is a simple testament to the intense power and utterly destructive force of electrical weapons.
